I’m Joel Gouveia. Artist manager, co-founder, and the person who apparently can’t stop pulling back the curtain on an industry I love enough to be honest about.

I run Sincerely Management out of Toronto, where I work directly with independent artists on the thing most managers avoid talking about: the business. Not just bookings and contracts; the actual mechanics of how artists build sustainable careers when the system is structurally designed to extract value from them and move on. As my day job, I’m a music supervisor for Wracket Music and an Agent Assistant at Midnight Agency.

I also co-founded Fivepin Music (sync representation), Sellout.fm (a Fan Score platform for the music industry), and spent five years building Aurorapalooza from a grassroots outdoor festival into something that nearly broke me financially and taught me more about the music business than anything else I’ve done. Year five got hit by a tornado. I paid every artist and vendor first and absorbed the loss myself. I’d do it again.

The Artist Economy is where all of that experience goes - the patterns I keep seeing, the math that doesn’t add up, the frameworks that actually work. I write it because I needed it to exist and it didn’t.
